8 15th to 17th May 2009

30 Cub Scouts from 1st Arundel and 1st Barnham joined over 1500 other from West Sussex at the Ardingly south of England showground for the County Cub camp Campalot.

The cubs took part in some fantastic adventurous activities, including climbing, archery, air rifle shooting, as well as crafts and games.

They eat very well thanks to Bob and Alison. The leaders, veronica, Damian, Steve, Andy, Graham and Simon were joined by parent Nick and young leader Freddie.

The weekend will always be remembered for its rain and wind, the flying tents.

This was also the first outing for our groups new lightweight tents. These performed well.

Our site also was visited by a number of important visitors including the, the Mayor of Arundel Wendy Eve, County Commissioner John Spickett and his wife, who enjoyed tea and cakes and the new UK Commissioner Wayne Bulpitt.

SCOUTS have helped to relaunch Arundel's Co-op food store after it was given a £360,000 facelift.

Members of 1st Arundel Scout Group cut the red ribbon to reopen the new-look store, and then received a £200 donation from manager Toby Netherell to mark the occasion.

He said: "As a community retailer it is appropriate that we involve the community in our special events and we are delighted our local Scout group is playing a central role in the relaunch of our store."
